ARC Review of Why Lords Lose Their Hearts by Manada Collins

This is the third book in the Wicked Widow series.  This a very good suspense historical romance.  There is lots of excitement and plot twists.  The interaction between the two main protagonists was really well done.  Perdita, the Dowager Duchess of Ormond is a widow who was abused by her husband and does not trust her judgement anymore when it comes to men.  Archer was her husband's personal secretary and he now works for the present Duke of Ormond.
If you read the first two books in this series you know that all three books open with the same scene.  Perdita is being held at knife point by her husband and her sister Isabella and her best friend Georgina are trying to stop him from killing Perdita.  Instead the Duke dies that night.  The three of them cover it up us as an accident.  I won't give away how he dies, you have to read it for yourself.
Archer has been in love with Perdita for a long time and feels guilty that he did not know that her husband was abusing her.  When someone starts sending her messages saying that he knows what she did last season and then elevates to physical threats on her life, Archer will do anything to keep her safe.  He also has to convince her to trust him and eliminate the threat to her life.  He wants to spend the rest of his life loving her and keeping her safe.  Perdita
isn't sure that she can give Archer what he wants.
There is a great climax when the villain is revealed.  Perdita realizes that she loves Archer and wants to spend her life with him.   Manda is a great writer and you havet to read all three books in this series.  Received ARC to review.
