Review of The Elusive Lord Everhart by Vivienne Lorret
The first book in The Rakes of Fallow Hall is a winner!!! I love anything Viviene Lorret writes!! This is the story of Calliope Croft, hopeless romantic and Gabriel Ludlow, Viscount Everhart, Rake Extradonarire. The book begins with Calliope in a carriage reading an old love letter that was written to her five years ago. She has kept it all these years as a reminder that there was someone out there who might have loved her. Her whole life changed after she received it, she turned down a suitor for her hand and has never met anyone who could live up to the emotions and love that was expressed in that letter.
The letter was not signed. She thought she was special, then six more letters appeared in Society written by the same author who they name Casanova. She has always kept her letter a secret, not wanting anyone to know she was crazy enough to turn down a marriage proposal for an anonymous love letter.
She and Gabriel have met before, they have mutual friends. What she doesn't know is that Gabriel had been secretly in love with her for years and he is Casanova!!
When they are stuck together with friends at the same house, sparks start to fly between them. I do not do spoilers in my reviews so you will have to read this book to find out what happens next. Believe me, it is worth every minute of your time. Vivienne knows how to write a plot that will keep you turning the pages long into the night. Her characters are stong, intelligent and a blast to get to know. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a classic historical romance novel. Cannot wait for the next one.
Received this ARC for an honest review.
