Review of The Harlot Countess by Joanna Shupe
This is the second book in the Wicked Deceptions series. I enjoyed this book very much. Maggie is an half Irish young lady who is in her first season and is in love with a young English Aristocrat and it seems that he loves her too. There is an incident at a soiree that makes Maggie an outcast, but she knows that she did not do anything wrong and Simon will believe her!!!
Simon is hurt and believes what he has been told by the villain who attacked Maggie and he turns his back on her like the rest of the Ton. Soon after Maggie marries an old man with a title and is not seen again until her husband dies and she returns to London in Spectacular fashion. She hold wild parties and ignores all the rules of the Ton. Why bother trying to fit in to a Society that judged her without hearing her side of the story an she is still mad enough to stick her nose up at all the people who snubbed her when she was young. Then she meets Simon again and all the old feelings come back, including the hatred she felt when he turned his back on her. This is a great story of love, hate, redemption, and forgiveness. I really loved the first book in this series and this one was even better. Joanna writes with a lovely lyrical style that also has great sexual tension and amazing love scenes. Her characters are strong, intelligent, stubborn and were fun too!!!! Do not miss this one!!!
