Review of The Major's Faux Fiancee by Erica Ridley

Another great book in The Dukes of War series.  Every book just gets better and better.  Major Bartholmew Blackpool is a man who has lost everything he ever cared about.  His twin brother died at Waterloo, which he blames himself for because he could not save him.  He lost his leg in the battle and feels like he is only half a man.  All he wants to do is sit in the dark alone and drink.

Miss Daphne Vaughan is a young lady who devotes all of her time and energy trying to help the poor and endangered in England.  She doesn't have time for anything else in her life until her guardian tells her that she has to marry someone soon or he will have her committed to Bedlam.  She knows that in a matter of months she will be of age that her guardian cannot touch her.   So she takes a chance and asks an old friend to help.

When Bartholmew and Daphne reunite after not seeing each other for years everything changes.  He sees a young lady who has never had anyone to love her so she puts all her love into her projects.  She sees a man who is damaged by war and grief.  It takes a faux bethrothal for them find themselves and each other.

This is a beautiful love story that will make you cheer for Bartholmew and Daphne.  Ericia writes wonderful stories that have adventure, redemption, forgiveness and mostly a love for all time.  Do not miss any of Erica's books.  I am a fan for life!!!!
