Review of Scotsman of My Dreams by Karen Ranney
Dalton MacLain was The Rake of London. A man who had everything he could ever want. Woman, friends, loyal servants at his fingertips. He was bored. So he decided to 10 of his friends and go fight in the American Civil War. He came back alone and blind. He doesn't know what happened to the men who went with him and doesn't seem to care. He has become a loner and does not leave his home. Minerva Todd is a Spinster and an amature archaeologist. She lives in London and is frantic to find out what happened to her brother who went to America with Dalton MacLain and has not been heard from since. She has tried many times to write to Dalton to find out what happened to her brother but has no response so she decides to confront him. Dalton is a man whose life will never be the same and as he adjusts to his new disabilities he realizes that he wasn't the kind of person he thought he was. He hires someone to try to find Minerva's brother, believing he is responsible for his injuries. Minerva doesn't believe Dalton but she is developing feelings for him and the more time they spend together the more confused things become. This story has a great plot that moves at a rapid pace that keeps you guessing what will happen next. The love story is enthralling and I love how intelligent and intriguing the characters are. Karen knows how to write a great story and this is one of her best.
