Virtual Book Tour for The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy by Julia Quinn

Sir Richard Kenworthy has less than a month to find a bride. He knows he can’t be too picky, but when he sees Iris Smythe-Smith hiding behind her cello at her family’s infamous musicale, he thinks he might have struck gold. She’s the type of girl you don’t notice until the second-or third-look, but there’s something about her, something simmering under the surface, and he knows she’s the one. Iris Smythe-Smith is used to being underestimated. With her pale hair and quiet, sly wit she tends to blend into the background, and she likes it that way. So when Richard Kenworthy demands an introduction, she is suspicious. He flirts, he charms, he gives every impression of a man falling in love, but she can’t quite believe it’s all true. And when his proposal of marriage turns into a compromising position that forces the issue, she can’t help thinking that he’s hiding something...even as her heart tells her to say yes.

Review of The Spinster Bride by Jane Goodger

Another wonderful book from Jane Goodger.  I have read all of her books but this is the first one I have reviewed since I started my blog.  If you have never read one of her books, this is a great one to start with. The plot is captivating, suspenseful, romantic and moves along at a great pace.  Jane's writing will have you laughing out loud and crying at the beautiful and intricate relationship between the hero and heroine.  The relationship between the heroine and her mother adds depth and understanding into the background of the story.  I do not want to give away the story, you have to read it for yourself.  You will not be disappointed.  Jane is an amazing author and she knows how to tell a incredible love story that will leave you happy at the end.

Review of When Good Earls Go Bad by Megan Frampton

An enjoyable read from start to finish.  Annabelle is a lovely young lady who runs an employment agency with two of her friends.  An Scottish Earl is in town for business and needs a housekeeper for a month, there is none available at the moment so Annabelle decides to take the position herself because it will look good for the agency to have an Earl as a client even if he is Scottish.  Annabelle is quirky, sweet, naive and has a past where she had been taken advantage of by a scoundrel.  But Annabelle is an optimist and does not let her past shape who she is.  Matthew, Earl of Selkirk is a serious minded man who takes his responsibilities seriously, his estate, his family.  He likes his life the way it is until he meets his new housekeeper. He never realized how much joy could come out of a person until he spends time with Annabelle.  This is a very sweet romance with some steamy love scenes.  Even though this is a novella, you really get to know Annabelle and Matthew well and the story moves along at a good pace.

Review of Temptation has Green Eyes by Lynne Connolly

This is he first book I have read by this author, after reading the first chapter, I went on Amazon and bought the beginning of this series called The Emperors of London.  Sophia is the daughter of a rich merchant who wants nothing more than to help her father with his business and be what she is a city girl.  Her father does business with the aristocracy and one particular nobleman is hardworking, honorable and takes his responsibilities for his estate and family seriously.  Max the Marquess of Deveraux has brought his family back from the brink of ruin and unlike his peers he is going to use every opportunity, including doing business with merchants and cits to save his legacy.  He enjoys the challenge of and risk of investing and making money.

Sophia's father wants her to marry Max to protect her and ensure her future.  Sophia has had a bad experience with a male member of Society and wants nothing to do with Max.  If Max does not marry Sophia he won't be able to keep doing business with her father.  He knows he has to marry someday and figures this is his best opportunity,  when he marries Sophia he will be the heir to her father's fortune and businesses.  He likes Sophia well enough and with his mother's help she will have no problems fitting into Society.  Sophia is given no choice and marries Max.  After a tension filled, unsatisfying wedding night Max goes on with his life and pretty much ignores Sophia.

Sophia discovers a secret about her father and investigates without letting Max know.  The secret could ruin her marriage to Max which she does not want because she likes him and thinks they could have a future and maybe love.

This is an interesting twist on the Jacobite story and could have actually happened since James Stuart did have illegitimate children.  I enjoyed the flow of the plot and the characters were strong, smart and the love scenes were very steamy and enjoyable!!!  I will be awaiting the next installment of the Emperors of London.

Review of Cinderella And The Ghost by Marina Myles

The first word that comes to mind when I was reading this book is "WOW".  I loved it!!  Let me say that the last book that I read involving time travel was A Knight In Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux back in the 80's.  I am not a big fan of fantasy and strange creatures, I prefer my Historical Romance without other worldly plots, but in this case I really enjoyed this twist on Cinderella with a little "Kate and Leopold" reference.  Was she in the past in the future?  Or was the future the past?  Marina can write a beautiful love story with wonderful characters, awesome plot twists.  Her Cinderella and Prince Charming are both familiar and amazingly original.  I do not do spoilers in my reviews so you will have to read this great book for yourself.  You will love it!!
