Review of Again, My Lord by Katharine Ashe

How would like to live a day over and over again for months?  That is what happens to the heroine in the second book in the twist series by Katharine.  This series is groundbreaking in the Historical Romance genre.  Sometimes even I, who loves to read Historical and Regency Romance needs a change of scenery, don’t get me wrong, I only read Historical and Regency.  This series lets me read my favorite genre albeit with a twist that is refreshing.

Calista Chance and Tacitus Everard are in love, but a misunderstanding tears them apart.
Six years later they meet at an inn during a storm that traps them in a small village.  Katharine has been married to an abusive husband for six years and Tacitus has never gotten over her.

Calista is transporting a statue of Aphrodite for her mother that will eventually become part of an exhibit in a museum.  But Aphrodite has plans for Calista and Tacitus that will change their lives.

This is a story of redemption, second chances and most of all how love can conquer life’s obstacles.  All Calista wants is to keep her son away from her abusive husband and Tacitus wants to be the gentleman he was brought up to be and not go through the heartache of seeing Calista and not be able to have her.

If you liked the movie Groundhog Day, you will definitely enjoy this book.  You can feel the heart wrenching emotions in Katharine’s characters and you cannot help getting swept up into their troubles and triumphs.  She writes such a beautiful love story!!! I love everything she writes, but I have to say the twist series is coming to be my favorite of hers.  Cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Review of Some Like It Scot by Suzanne Enoch

Finally, Bear’s Story!!!  I have to say that this is my favorite of the Scandalous Highlanders Series.  I have enjoyed the Series immensely, but this one was definitely the best for me.
I have loved Bear since the first book, the big brawny lovable highlander.  Misunderstood and underestimated by his family even though he is loved and respected.

All the rest of his brothers and sister are now married with children and are very happy and they want him to be happy so they want him to marry too.  Bear doesn’t want anything to do with the woman that his brother the Laird of his clan has in mind for him.  He is perfectly happy just the way he is.  He loves his family and he would die for anyone of them and will protect and love them for his whole life, but he just wants to be left alone to live his life the way he wants to.

Then one day while he is out hunting he meets Catriona McColl, a highland lass dressed as a man and she beat him to the deer he was hunting and with a shot that only a very skilled marksman could make.  He doesn’t know who she is but follows her to an old abandoned manor house on his clan’s land.  He is surprised again when she gets the jump on him and threatens to shoot him if he doesn’t go away.  Bear is fascinated and the fun begins.

Catriona is hiding and protecting her half sister from an unwanted marriage and has her own secrets that she doesn’t plan on revealing to Bear or anyone else.  But she cannot seem to make Bear go away and leave them alone.  He keeps bringing her supplies to help her and her sister survive.   Bear has to keep her a secret from his brother Ranulf, the clan chief or there will hell to pay.

The highlands are an intricate pattern of politics, alliances, enemies.   This makes Bear’s and Catriona’s story complicated and dangerous for them and for the people they love.  This story is wonderfully touching and I loved every word.  Suzanne writes a wonderful plot with amazing characters, a heart wrenching love story with moments that will make you laugh and cry.

I have been reading her books since 1995 when I read The Black Duke’s Prize and have not missed  one since.  They are all keepers that you will read over and over again.  If you want to read an author who writes emotional, smart stories that will leave you wanting more,  then read Suzanne’s books.

Received ARC for honest Review.
