Review of My Fair Princess by Vanessa Kelly

This is the first book in a new series from Vanessa, "The Improper Princesses"  .  Gillian Dryden is the illegitimate daughter of the Duke of Cumberland.  She was raised in Italy by her mother and grandparents. After her step father is killed by bandits in the hills of Sicily her grandmother decides it time to go home to England.  Gillian did not have a proper upbringing in Italy and is more comfortable in trousers than a dress.

When they arrive in England her Grandmother asks a distant relative the Duke of Leverton to help get Gillian ready for Society.   Charles the Duke is the most proper Duke in England and the most powerful.  Gillian and Charles clash from the start.  They both are strong, stubborn individuals who insist that the other is wrong.  It is a battle of wills that blossoms into something more.

Vanessa writes a truly lovely story with wonderful characters and lots of action and adventure for them.  I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the next one in the series.
