Review of Pledge of Passion (The Rules of Engagement) by Victoria Vane

Another wonderful Historical Romance by Victoria Vane. I have been waiting a long time to find out how Nicolas and Mariah will get their HAE. These two fascinating characters are truly meant to be together and when they meet again it is a complete surprise to Nicolas that Mariah is the bride that his superior has sent him to negotiate a marriage contract with. Mariah was devastated when Nicolas left her and now he is back and all the old feeling resurface. Will Nicolas jeopardize his career for the woman he still loves and will Mariah give him another chance.
The story is lovely and so well written that I didn't want to put it down. Read it in one sitting. I am a big fan of Victoria's DeVere Series and this book is just as compelling, adventurous, sexy and a beautiful love story. Do not miss it!!!

ARC Review of Lana and The Laird by Sabrina York

If you have read any Scottish Highlands Historical Romances you know that in the time period around 1813 the absent Scottish Landlords were clearing out their tenants because farming was not as lucrative as breeding sheep.  Thousands of innocent farmers were forced off their land by the absentee Lords who couldn't make the effort to even visit their estates in Scotland and see what their agents were doing to get the farmers off their land.

This is the story of a Scottish Duke who has returned to Scotland to force his Barons to comply with his demands to clear his lands for the more lucrative investment of breeding of sheep and the selling of their wool.  Lachlan is not a bad Duke.  He wants nothing to do with Scotland as he as spend his whole life in London.  The only problem is that he is being haunted by a ghost that he thinks is his dead father who is urging him back to Scotland to rebuild their family's castle.  Lachlan knows he is doomed to die at 30 years of age like all his male ancestors due to a curse that was placed on the family hundreds of years ago.

Enter Lana, a Scottish young lady who can see and talk to ghosts.  She has been having the same premonition for months about a warrior who will enter her life.  Lachlan and Lana are both shocked to find out that they were each dreaming about the other.  But Lachlan believes in the curse and will not marry or sire children.  Lana doesn't believe the curse and will do whatever she can to get Lachlan to believe he does have a future, preferably with her.  There is also an evil person who do anything to stop Lana and Lachlan from having a HAE.

I really enjoyed this Scottish Historical Romance.  This is my first time reading Sabrina York and it will not be the last.  This is the third novel in The Untamed Highlander Series, I will have to go back and read the first two.  Her writing is wonderful, sassy, witty and steamy.  Her characters are intelligent and bold, even the secondary characters are compelling and I can't wait to read her next book.
